Serbian grades and a US GPA

This page gives no US equivalents for Serbian grades: we found no table for them on Wikipedia or from an official source, and we do not make one up. A US university reads a foreign transcript itself or through the credential evaluation service it names, and its conversion is the one that counts.

Send your grades as they are, with the scale above. When a form asks for your average, give it on your own scale and say which scale it is: the converter’s average does exactly that, weighted by credits when you enter them.

What to know about grades in Serbia

  • University averages are calculated to two decimal places, for example 9.54.
  • Most faculties give a 6 for 51 to 60 points out of 100, rising by one grade for every further 10 points to a 10 for 91 to 100; some science and engineering faculties set higher cut-offs.
  • Top grades are rare: a 10 implies near-perfect work, so an overall 8 counts as a very good result, especially in science and engineering.
  • In schools, a final average of 4.50 or more gives an overall 5 (excellent), 3.50 to 4.49 a 4, 2.50 to 3.49 a 3 and 1.50 to 2.49 a 2, provided every subject is passed.
