Weighted GPA depends on your school
Unweighted GPA uses the base grade points. Weighted GPA changes those points for eligible course levels. The extra points, eligible grades and treatment of IB courses are school rules.
Enter your school's letter grades and base points, including plus/minus grades when used. Then set the extra points and the minimum base points that qualify, or select the Chicago Public Schools policy if it applies. In that policy, a B in an Honors course receives four grade points; D and F receive no Honors bonus. Course levels must match the school record.
The calculator starts with no extra points, because each school sets its own. One tap applies a common setting, Honors +0.5 and AP or IB +1.0; change it if your handbook differs. The GPA scale chart lists every letter’s points under that setting. Two As and a B, counted equally, give 3.67 both ways; with that setting, an A in AP and a B in Honors raise the weighted GPA to 4.17.

If a full-year course counts more than a semester course, untick “Every course counts equally” and enter each course’s credits. Do not average a weighted GPA back into an unweighted one: different course combinations can produce the same weighted total.
