Letter scale: Common US plus/minus scale

Rounding and decimal places
Follow your syllabus. A displayed percentage can round up while the unrounded score stays below a cutoff.
Only changes how results are shown. Extra places appear when rounding would push a score over a letter cutoff.
A letter typed as a score counts as the lowest percentage for that letter on this scale. Use the original percentage when you have it.

How do you calculate a semester grade, with or without the final?
Multiply each quarter grade and the final by its share of the semester, then add the results. Before the final, divide the quarter points by the quarters’ share to get your grade so far.
The first setup gives each quarter 40% of the semester and the final 20%. Those are common weights, not a rule for every school: pick another setup or type your own.
Semester = quarter 1 × its share + quarter 2 × its share + final × its share
With quarters of 92% and 86%, the work graded so far averages 89%. It has earned 71.2 points toward the semester. A perfect final could bring the semester to 91.2%; a zero would leave 71.2%. Reaching 90% takes a 94% final.
For a full year, choose four quarters and a final. For modules weighted by credits, choose “Modules (credits)”: each module counts for its credits as a share of the total.
What each letter needs
For each letter, the answer shows the average you need across the work still to come to reach that letter’s exact cutoff on the scale under “Letter scale”. If your school rounds the semester grade to a whole percent first, you can aim half a point lower: an 89.5% semester then counts as 90%. Choose that rule under “Rounding and decimal places” so the letter shown for your grade follows it too.
Already secured means the numeric cutoff is reached even with zeros on the remaining work; school exam requirements still apply.
