A middle school GPA is the average of the report card’s grade points: on the common A–F scale an A is 4, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F 0. Add the points and divide by the number of classes. A, A, B, B and C give 4 + 4 + 3 + 3 + 2 = 16, and 16 ÷ 5 = a 3.2 GPA.
Choose the letter grade for each class on the report card. Every class counts the same.

Each letter grade becomes grade points: on the common A–F scale an A is 4, a B is 3, a C is 2, a D is 1 and an F is 0. Add the points for every class and divide by the number of classes.
GPA = total grade points ÷ number of classes
For example, a report card with A, A, B, B and C adds up to 4 + 4 + 3 + 3 + 2 = 16 points. Divided by 5 classes, that is a 3.2 GPA.
If the school uses plus and minus grades, open “Your school's letter grades and points” and enter the values the school publishes, such as 3.7 for an A−; the GPA scale shows the common ones. If some classes meet for half the year and count for less, untick “Every class counts equally” and give each class its credits.
Whether a middle school reports a GPA at all, and what it uses it for, is the school's decision. Some use it for honor rolls, course placement or applications to selective high schools; many report only letter grades.
Grades from honors or advanced middle school classes usually count like any other class here. If your school does add points for them, its rule belongs in the high school GPA calculator, which has extra-point settings.
