Nepali grading system
In Nepal, the SEE at the end of grade 10 and the National Examinations Board's grade 12 exams give letter grades from A+ (90% or more, 4.0 grade points) down to D (35% to under 40%, 1.6). Below 35% a subject is NG, not graded.
Example · Average of 3 subjects
Excellent, 3.6
A pass: 80% to under 90% of the marks. D is the lowest pass.
Each subject counts the same. Add weights to count some subjects more.
SEE and NEB grades: A+ to NG
The Secondary Education Examination (grade 10) and National Examinations Board results. Each subject's percentage gives a letter and grade points, and the GPA averages the grade points.

Nepali grades and a US GPA
This page gives no US equivalents for Nepali grades: we found no table for them on Wikipedia or from an official source, and we do not make one up. A US university reads a foreign transcript itself or through the credential evaluation service it names, and its conversion is the one that counts.
Send your grades as they are, with the scale above. When a form asks for your average, give it on your own scale and say which scale it is: the converter’s average does exactly that, weighted by credits when you enter them.
What to know about grades in Nepal
- Letter grades with grade points replaced the old SLC percentage divisions from the 2072 BS (2015–16) exam.
- Universities and other boards in Nepal set their own grading scales.
