Singapore grades and a US GPA
This page gives no US equivalents for Singapore grades: we found no table for them on Wikipedia or from an official source, and we do not make one up. A US university reads a foreign transcript itself or through the credential evaluation service it names, and its conversion is the one that counts.
Send your grades as they are, with the scale above. When a form asks for your average, give it on your own scale and say which scale it is: the converter’s average does exactly that, weighted by credits when you enter them.
What to know about grades in Singapore
- Degree classes follow the cumulative GPA: at NUS and NTU, 4.50 or more earns the top honours class, and below 2.00 a student does not graduate.
- Singapore Management University grades on a 4.3 scale (A+ 4.3 down to D 1.0), so its GPAs are not comparable with those of NUS and NTU.
- Universities place a student on probation or end their studies when the cumulative GPA stays below 2.00 (2.50 in some courses) for consecutive semesters.
- For university admission, A-level grades become rank points: an A in an H2 subject is worth 20 and an E is worth 10, with H1 subjects worth half.
- From 2027, the Singapore-Cambridge Secondary Education Certificate (SEC) replaces the O-level and N-level exams.
