Egyptian grading system
In Egypt, university grades are percentages from 100 (best) to 0, and 50% is the lowest pass.
Example · Credit-weighted average of 3 courses
جيد جداً (very good)
A pass. 50% is the lowest pass.
3 courses, 15 credits. Your institution’s own rules on rounding or cutting off decimals decide the grade on your record.
University grades: 0 to 100%
Bachelor's courses and degrees at Egyptian public universities. Credit-hour programmes at some faculties use letter grades and a GPA instead.

Egyptian grades and a US GPA
This page gives no US equivalents for Egyptian grades: we found no table for them on Wikipedia or from an official source, and we do not make one up. A US university reads a foreign transcript itself or through the credential evaluation service it names, and its conversion is the one that counts.
Send your grades as they are, with the scale above. When a form asks for your average, give it on your own scale and say which scale it is: the converter’s average does exactly that, weighted by credits when you enter them.
What to know about grades in Egypt
- The same six grades apply to each course and to the overall grade of a bachelor's degree, which is based on the total marks of all years of study.
- Honours (مرتبة الشرف) go to graduates whose overall grade is excellent or very good, with at least very good in every year and no failed exam.
- A student who passes a previously failed course on a retake receives at most the grade pass (مقبول), even with a mark of 65% or more.
