Israeli grades and a US GPA

This page gives no US equivalents for Israeli grades: we found no table for them on Wikipedia or from an official source, and we do not make one up. A US university reads a foreign transcript itself or through the credential evaluation service it names, and its conversion is the one that counts.

Send your grades as they are, with the scale above. When a form asks for your average, give it on your own scale and say which scale it is: the converter’s average does exactly that, weighted by credits when you enter them.

What to know about grades in Israel

  • Israeli universities and colleges mark each course from 0 to 100 and set their own pass mark, which is 60 at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
  • In secondary school and in the Bagrut matriculation exams, any mark below 55 is a fail.
  • Grades are rarely curved, but most law faculties normalise course averages to around 75.
  • Honours are usually awarded from a degree average of about 88 and summa cum laude from about 95, though each institution sets its own thresholds.
  • Most universities also require the Psychometric Entrance Test for admission, which is scored from 200 to 800.
