Kuwaiti grades and a US GPA

This page gives no US equivalents for Kuwaiti grades: we found no table for them on Wikipedia or from an official source, and we do not make one up. A US university reads a foreign transcript itself or through the credential evaluation service it names, and its conversion is the one that counts.

Send your grades as they are, with the scale above. When a form asks for your average, give it on your own scale and say which scale it is: the converter’s average does exactly that, weighted by credits when you enter them.

What to know about grades in Kuwait

  • Kuwait University multiplies each course's grade points by its credit hours to give a grade point average out of 4.00.
  • Each course syllabus sets the marks needed for each letter; in one College of Business Administration course an A needs 95 and a mark below 60 fails.
  • Undergraduates whose GPA falls below 2.0 receive an academic warning, and too many warnings lead to dismissal.
  • Each college keeps an honours list of students with a GPA of 3.5 or more, and students who graduate on time with a GPA of 3.67 receive an honours degree.
