Croatian grades and a US GPA
This page gives no US equivalents for Croatian grades: we found no table for them on Wikipedia or from an official source, and we do not make one up. A US university reads a foreign transcript itself or through the credential evaluation service it names, and its conversion is the one that counts.
Send your grades as they are, with the scale above. When a form asks for your average, give it on your own scale and say which scale it is: the converter’s average does exactly that, weighted by credits when you enter them.
What to know about grades in Croatia
- A school average of 4.50 or more counts as excellent overall, 3.50 to 4.49 as very good, 2.50 to 3.49 as good and 2.00 to 2.49 as sufficient.
- Teachers often add plus and minus signs or half grades such as 4/5 during the year, but these are unofficial and never appear on final reports.
- Conduct is graded separately as uzorno (exemplary), dobro (good) or loše (poor) and does not count towards the average.
- Top averages are common in primary school: in 2023/24, 46% of primary pupils finished the year with an excellent average.
