Tunisian grades and a US GPA

This page gives no US equivalents for Tunisian grades: we found no table for them on Wikipedia or from an official source, and we do not make one up. A US university reads a foreign transcript itself or through the credential evaluation service it names, and its conversion is the one that counts.

Send your grades as they are, with the scale above. When a form asks for your average, give it on your own scale and say which scale it is: the converter’s average does exactly that, weighted by credits when you enter them.

What to know about grades in Tunisia

  • Marking is strict, so a 12 is generally considered a good mark and a common starting point for graduate admission and scholarships.
  • Universities hold a main exam session and a resit session, and marks in different modules of the same year can offset one another.
  • Some institutions grant a conceded pass for a module mark between 9 and 10 when the semester or year average is at least 10.
  • The baccalauréat has a main session in early June and a resit session (session de contrôle) at the end of June.
  • Primary schools have moved to a letter-grade scale.
