Bangladeshi grades and a US GPA

This page gives no US equivalents for Bangladeshi grades: we found no table for them on Wikipedia or from an official source, and we do not make one up. A US university reads a foreign transcript itself or through the credential evaluation service it names, and its conversion is the one that counts.

Send your grades as they are, with the scale above. When a form asks for your average, give it on your own scale and say which scale it is: the converter’s average does exactly that, weighted by credits when you enter them.

What to know about grades in Bangladesh

  • A GPA of 5.00 in the SSC or HSC means an A+, 80% or more, in every subject counted.
  • University degree classes follow the CGPA: 3.00 to 4.00 is a first class, 2.25 to 2.99 a second class and 2.00 to 2.24 a third class.
  • Some private universities, such as North South University and BRAC University, use North American cut-offs, with an A only from 93% or 90%.
  • The school scale tops out at 5.00 and the university scale at 4.00, so the two averages cannot be compared directly.
